Sherman's Sports and Army Store, situated on the corner of North Main Street, is celebrating a major milestone -- 100+ years in business. Sherman's opened in 1922 as a general store. Today, it mainly sells outdoor clothing and footwear.

How We Became Spicer Greene Jewelers The story of Spicer Greene Jewelers is one of opportunity and passion. In 1926 E.O. Wick, with a desire to escape the hectic New York lifestyle where he worked with Tiffany & Co., moved to Asheville and opened a small jewelry repair shop on Wall Street. His skills as an expert enamellist, hand engraver, and jeweler served him well. So well, he was able to take on an apprentice, Paul Greene, in 1942. Paul eagerly worked alongside Mr. Wick, learning the business and the art of creating one-of- a-kind custom jewelry.

Our building, on the corner of N. Main St. and 3rd Ave in Historic Downtown Hendersonville, is the former Justus Pharmacy, which opened in 1890 and operated until 1993. The interior retains much of its original character. Now serving craft beer & wine with our delicious lunch menu on our Upper Level

We are a family owned boutique located in the heart of downtown Hendersonville, NC. We sell home decor, clothing, accessories and gifts at our boutique and love serving each customer that comes through the door! The Aquarium & Shark Lab is the first inland aquarium in NC, opening its doors 9/2011. The Aquarium houses and cares for over 275 marine fish & invertebrates, along with 2 dozen "adopted" reptiles. Our 2,000-gallon shark study tank is the focus of research being followed by the Field Museum in Chicago. Divers enter the tank during public hours to hand feed and establish behavioral imprinting with our small sharks and rays. Feed is at 1:30 pm Thurs-Sat. The Aquarium & shark Lab is noted for its innovative education programs and marine science internships.

In 1995, the 1905 Syndicate Building in Hendersonville was added to our family of stores. Hendersonville was refocusing attention on its Main Street and was looking for key elements to ensure growth in their downtown. The Mast Store fit well with its mix of retail, restaurants, and services. The Mast Store realizes that we all need to do what we can to move toward sustainability. But, we also realize that in some aspects, it is difficult, if not impossible, to proclaim that you are truly sustainable. With that said, we are doing the best that we can and trying to do better as we can.
