Overview
Patton Pool and the Whitmire Activity Center were both damaged during Hurricane Helene. They cannot reopen without rebuilding. City staff are working through the process with FEMA and design consultants to replace the fifty-year old pool. The Hendersonville City Council sees this as an opportunity to hear from the community, evaluate local needs, and plan for something even better.
The City enlisted the help of CPL architects to assist with the community engagement and design process to rebuild the facilities. Stakeholder meetings, community input sessions, and an online survey were completed in the Spring and Summer of 2025 with conceptual designs presented in Fall of 2025. City Council made the decision to develop an outdoor pool design that supports competitive swimmers and families.
Final plans are still being made and the overall scope of the project will be determined by FEMA reimbursement and construction costs.
